Begley was bassist and backing vocalist in Necromantik Sunshine for it's first two years. Spring/1998 - First appearing on the cassette demo containing the tracks "Necromantik Sunshine", "Pretty In Pink" (later to be renamed "Pink" for the CD) and the never again released "Nevermind The Living". The last track features Begley speaking a passage from Crowley's Book Of The Law (for those of you who have this limited release of 300 and were wondering just what it is he's saying).
A review from Philadelphia's City Paper Apr. ,21, 2001read: Sisters of Mercy frontman Andrew Eldritch insists that his is not a goth band. Well, if that’s the case, then Necromantik Sunshine is not a goth band either, because the atmospherics of The Pain of Pleasure! are nearly identical to the kinds of things that Eldritch coughs up. The brainchild of local gothpunk Brian Bordello, Necromantik Sunshine offers up pure goth in the vein of London After Midnight, Christian Death, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry and so on. This style predates the coining of the term "goth," from back in the day when freakish black-clad things with gruesome make-up jobs and teased-to-hell mullets were called "deathrockers." So if the horror movie samples, sex kitten sound effects and lascivious sadomasochistic lyrics don’t give you a pretention headache, Necromantik Sunshine actually takes you on a very pleasant retrogoth sojourn that’s almost worth the frustration of getting the blue-black dye out of your hair. —Helen H. Thompson Pictured Guitarist Glenn Strange (Media Virus, Xtasy) provided the crunch and solos that the band needed to round off it's sound. Tito Altamar (I WILL I, Vasarian's Dream) also joined the band for soundscape additures and the CD "The Pain Of Pleasure" was cut. During this time they were approached by a promoter to appear on a televised Goth show of sorts that was to take place at The Bank in Philly. It never materialized although a "hugger-mugger" contract was signed by the band. The band was also released on The Unquiet Grave 2 by Cleopatra Records.
The band opened up for such acts as The Voluptuous Horror Of Karen Black, Gene Loves Jezebel and Gitane Demone. Begley left the band Mar/22/2000.
